James J. Moran

Tuesday, February 1, 1955Monday, May 15, 2017

James J. Moran, 62, a resident of West Pittston, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born on February 1, 1955, in Scranton, James was the son of James J. Moran, West Pittston, and the late Rose L. (Campo) Moran, who passed away on December 20, 2016.

A graduate of Saint John the Evangelist High School (Seton Catholic) in Pittston, James went on to receive an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Luzerne County Community College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Kings College.

James worked as a DoD Police Officer at the Navel Yard in Philadelphia, a U.S. Customs Officer in Pembina, North Dakota, and a U.S. Customs Port Director at the Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown.

Jimmy, as he was known to his family, was a dedicated father to his son James. Both he and his son, James, spent a great deal of time fishing, camping, and enjoying the great outdoors of NEPA together. Jimmy's excitement of fishing and camping led him and his son to create numerous everlasting memories together. Sunday was Jimmy's favorite day as he looked forward to talking with his son for many hours, a tradition they continued from a time when James was very young, talking on the back porch swing - both father and son sharing their adventures from the week past and making plans for the next.

Jimmy was a dedicated Scout Master to Boy Scout Troop 60, and played an active role in helping his son and many other boys achieve the highest rank of Eagle Scout.

In addition to his father, James J. Moran, Jimmy will be greatly missed by his loving son, James and his wife, Vanessa, Phoenix, Arizona; his sister, Rose (Moran) Whitiak and her husband, Ron, Jermyn; his brother, Benjamin Moran and his wife, Nancy, Schnecksville; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Blessing Service and Celebration of Jimmy’s Life on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at 2:30 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with Monsignor John J. Sempa, Pastor of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston, officiating.
