Ann (Mikelski) Pyryt

Thursday, June 16, 1932Wednesday, February 21, 2018

Ann Pyryt, 85, a longtime resident of Forty Fort, and most recently a resident of The Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 21, 2018, at her home, with her daughter and son at her side.

Her husband was the late Frank Pyryt, who passed away on October 17, 2001. Frank and Ann were married for 50 years.

Born on June 16, 1932, in Plains Township, Ann was one of eight children born to the late Anthony and Viola (Lukaswich) Mikelski.

Ann had an extraordinary work ethic, and prior to retiring, she was employed for over 40 years in the local garment industry. She held membership with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

Ann was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, where she attended daily Mass until her illness kept her from doing so. Additionally, she was a longtime member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville.

Although unable to pursue her own educational dreams, Ann and her husband, Frank, instilled the importance of education in their children, who both attended private schools to broaden their horizons. During the combined 20 years that her children and grandchildren were away at college, she faithfully wrote weekly letters to provide encouragement. Her greatest accomplishment and lasting legacy comes from knowing that she played an important role in the achievement of her children’s and grandchildren’s academic success, as they are all college graduates with Bachelor Degrees.

Ann will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, a respected mother, a caring grandmother, and a good neighbor, who was generous to all. Her family rejoices in knowing that she is finally reunited with her husband, Frank, who she dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Anthony and Viola Mikelski, and her husband, Frank, Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Anthony Mikelski; and her sisters, Joan Kivler and Dorothy Phillips.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Jane Pyryt Wingard and her husband, Barry A. Wingard MD, Mechanicsburg; her son, Frank J. Pyryt and his wife, Jodie, Mechanicsburg; her grandchildren, Susan McGovern; Michael Westwick and his wife, Stephanie; Thomas Pyryt; Sarah Pyryt; Adam Wingard and his wife, Grace; Robert Wingard; Katie Wingard; Conner Hertzler; and Kady Luke and her husband, Jeremy; and her great-grandsons, Brady, Mason, Ryder, and Daxton.

Additionally, Ann is survived by her sisters, Elaine Young and her husband, Gerald, Wilkes-Barre; Jean Verbitski, Wilkes-Barre; and Patsy Radle and her husband, Carl, West Wyoming; her sisters-in-law, Sophie Drost, Forty Fort; Marian Pyryt, New York; Evelyn McHugh and her husband, Tony, Ohio; and Alicia Pyryt, Wilkes-Barre; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, February 26, 2018, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Dear Cousins Jane, Frank, and family, Please accept my heartfelt condolences at this sad time. Your mom was a wonderful woman and I have fond memories of Aunt Ann. She was extremely kind and thoughtful, especially to my mom, for which I will always be grateful. May the love of family give you comfort and strength. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Nancy
Dear Jane and Frank, I am so deeply sorry to hear of the loss of Aunt Ann. She was a wonderful woman and a beautiful soul. I have very fond memories of my mom saying let’s go visit Aunt Ann where there would always be some sort of treat out on the table as she and my mom had coffee ( if I remember correctly your mom always had Sanka) and conversation. Then she would remind us to take home a vegetable medley if some sort from Uncle Frank’s garden. Keeping all of your family in my thoughts and prayers. With deepest condolences, Your cousin Rebeca Phillips

Dear Tom,

How can I ever thank you enough for leading us through our recent experience!

I have received so many compliments on the obituary for Mike; the Funeral Mass; and the Military Ceremony at the Cemetery. Your input made all of this possible!
