Cynthia Zemgulis

Saturday, January 29, 1949Monday, August 13, 2018

Cynthia Zemgulis, the gentlest and kindest of souls, passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, August 13th, 2018, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.

Cynthia was one of the most loving, kindest, selfless, beautiful human beings that has ever set foot upon this earth.  She was a loyal and loving wife, a tremendously wonderful mother that taught her three children how to love unconditionally, how to be kind and nurturing, and what it means to be truly devoted to your family… she was a sweet and endlessly patient grandmother and great-grandmother. She was everything a mother should be, a wife should be, a human being should be…. she IS all things which are good in this world.

Her devotion to her family provided us with the warmth and security that we call “home”, and that home was always filled with love, happiness and acceptance.  She taught us by example how to appreciate life, to enjoy the simple things, how to love.  Her gentle spirit was abundantly clear to all who crossed her path.  She was always that ray of sunshine on a dark rainy day, she always made time to listen, to give you a hug, or to say “I love you”.  She was always your champion, always the first to help, always there to help mend or nurture.  She always made sure that your needs were met before hers. She was never too tired to help, never too tired to support you, never too tired to show her love for you. Everything that we are, everything that we became… is because of her.

In addition to her family, Cynthia loved going for rides in the country, going for ice cream with her grandchildren, tending to her garden, watching and feeding the birds, and showing love to her favorite cats.  She always saw the good in everyone and everything.

Born on January 29th, 1949, Cynthia was the youngest of seven children born to the late John and Elizabeth (Gergel) Mihal.  Having been raised in Kingston, Cynthia was a member of the last graduating class of Kingston High School in 1967.  Shortly thereafter, Cynthia married her loving husband, Frank Zemgulis, with whom she would have celebrated 51 years of marriage on September 23rd of this year.  Frank and Cynthia have three children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, John and Elizabeth Mihal, Cynthia was preceded in death by her brothers, John and George Mihal; and her sisters, Marie Ungvarsky, Elizabeth Easton, and Lucille Crolick.

In addition to her husband, Frank, Cynthia is survived by her children, Lisa Zemgulis and her partner, James Galusha, Binghamton, New York; Lara Moore and her husband, James, Larksville; and Jason Zemgulis and his partner, Natalia Kovda, Hartland, Michigan; her grandchildren, James Moore Jr., Casey Moore, Joshua Moore, and Maximus Zemgulis; her great-grandson, Carter Moore; her brother, Fred Mihal and his wife, Bernadine, Shavertown; her numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved cats, named Peanut “Tartar Sauce Crunchy” Moore and Purcey “White Angel”.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Friday, August 17th, 2018, at 9:30 AM, from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by an Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary’s Pokrova Byzantine Catholic Church, 321 Chestnut Street, Kingston, with the Reverend Mykhaylo Prodanets, Pastor, officiating.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Pokrova Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Pringle.
