Bernadette M. Sacavage

Saturday, July 7, 1945Thursday, October 18, 2018

Bernadette M. Sacavage, 73, a resident of Kingston, passed into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a brief illness.

Her loving husband is Charles V. Sacavage. Together, Charles and Bernadette celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on August 28th.

Born on July 07, 1945, in Swoyersville, Bernadette was one of six children born to the late Alexander and Stella (Pitcavage) Shedletsky.

Raised in Swoyersville, Bernadette was a graduate of the former West Side Central Catholic High School, Class of 1963. Following high school, she went on to further her education at the former Wilkes-Barre Business College.

A devout Catholic, Bernadette was a lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.

During her younger years, Bernadette was employed in the business offices of the former American Auto Co., Wilkes-Barre, and the former McCrory’s Store, Wyoming.

In the 1970’s, Bernadette gave up working to begin doing what she loved most, caring for her nieces and nephews. Her nieces and nephews were the light of her life, and she was a second mother to each of them. She was always present at their sporting events and school functions, and was known to never forget any of their birthdays. She was not only an amazing aunt, she was an equally amazing Godmother to her nephews, the late AJ Minichello, David Shedletsky and Matthew Shedletsky, and her nieces, Kerry Gushka and Kaila Trapani.

Bernadette and Charles were blessed with a happy marriage, and together they enjoyed the simple pleasures of married life, especially their weekly Sunday rides.

The love and devotion Bernadette had for her family was truly boundless, and although her presence will be deeply missed, the legacy she leaves behind will forever be treasured by her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Alexander and Stella Shedletsky, Bernadette was preceded in death by her brother, Alexander Shedletsky; her sister, Frances Minichello; her nephews, AJ Minichello and Marc Minichello; and her niece, Michel Minichello.

In addition to her husband, Charles, Bernadette is survived by her brother, Jerome Shedletsky and his wife, Ellen, Swoyersville; her sisters, Mary Hlavac and her husband, Dennis, Cape Coral, Florida; and Kathleen Markwell, Amherst, New Hampshire; as well as generations of nieces and nephews.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
