Theresa J. Mihalek

Thursday, August 11, 1927Sunday, December 2, 2018

Theresa J. Mihalek, 91, a former resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Sunday evening, December 02, 2018, at the Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre, where she was a guest for the past few months.

Her beloved husband was the late Adam F. Mihalek, who passed away on December 21, 2014. Together, Adam and Theresa shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.

Born on August 11, 1927, in Swoyersville, Theresa was one of seven children born to the late Steven and Agnes (Nemetz) Levitsky.

Raised in Swoyersville, Theresa was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1945.

As a young woman, Theresa was employed as a seamstress for the former United Pants Factory, Swoyersville. Eventually, Theresa and Adam settled in Kenilworth, New Jersey, where Theresa devoted her life to raising her daughters. In 1989, the couple returned to their hometown of Swoyersville to enjoy their retirement years.

A devout Catholic, Theresa was a longtime member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. Active within her church, Theresa was a member of the former Holy Trinity Quilters Group, and also volunteered her time helping to make pirohy and beef goulash for the parish bazaar, and nut and poppy seed rolls for Christmas and Easter.

Theresa was an active member of the Swoyersville Senior Citizens, and also held membership with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Assumpta Council 3987.

A skilled seamstress, crocheter, and quilter, Theresa greatly enjoyed fashioning each of her daughter’s wedding gowns, and her family and friends were the recipients of many of her handmade works. She also enjoyed shopping and was a self-proclaimed “shop-a-holic”.

Above all, Theresa’s greatest enjoyment in her life was spending time with her beloved family. Although her presence will be deeply missed, there is much comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband, Adam, and all her family and friends who have gone before her.

In addition to her parents, Steven and Agnes Levitsky, and her husband, Adam, Theresa was preceded in death by her sister, Vilma Mikus; and her brothers, Steven and Robert Levitsky.

Theresa is survived by her daughters, Janet Mihalek, Nanticoke; Linda Blakesley and her husband, Kirk, Newark, New York; Karen Kiefer and her husband, Randy, Kenilworth, New Jersey; and Susann Silecchia and her husband, Rocco, Toms River, New Jersey; her grandchildren, Robert McConnell; Patrice Perez; Matthew and Melissa Kiefer; Terry and Kevin Blakesley; her great-grandchildren, Nelson, Angel, Isabella, and Teagan Perez; Crimson McConnell; and Madeline and Logan Kiefer; her sister, Geraldine Kubacki, Wyoming; her brothers, Daniel Levitsky, Dallas; and Mark Levisky, Delaware; and generations of nieces and nephews.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, December 10, 2018, at 9:30 AM, from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
