Jasper J. Reggie

Sunday, March 24, 1929Tuesday, January 22, 2019

Jasper J. “Joe” Reggie, 89, a resident of Forty Fort, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, January 22, 2019, at the Mercy Center Nursing Unit, Dallas, where he was a guest for the past year.

His loving wife is Agnes (Havrilla) Reggie. Together, Jasper and Agnes celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on July 29, 2018.

Born on March 24, 1929, in Pittston, Jasper was the son of the late Michael and Rose (Arnone) Reggie.

Jasper was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1947, and went on to further his education at Kings College, Wilkes Barre.

Prior to his retirement, Jasper was employed for 32 years by General Motors Acceptance Corporation, Kingston. After his retirement he worked for Joseph P. Gilroy Real Estate, Dallas, and volunteered as a business counselor at SCORE Mentors, Wilkes Barre.

Jasper was a longtime member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.

A proud member of the Wyoming – West Wyoming Lions Club for more than 30 years, Jasper served as the club’s President and Chaplin for several terms, and was always an active volunteer with the club.

Jasper was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed attending the Philharmonic and Cultural Center with his wife, listening to the opera, and a good cigar on a Sunday afternoon. A perpetual optimist, he lived by the words “things work out best for the people who make the best of how things work out”.

Family was the center of Jasper’s life and he cherished every moment he shared with his loved ones, most especially his granddaughters, who were the light of his life. His favorite moments in life were shared at family dinners, surrounded by his loving family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Michael and Rose Reggie, Jasper was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Reggie; and his nephew, Jason Granteed.

In addition to his wife, Agnes, Jasper is survived by his son, Joseph Reggie; his daughter, Mia Reggie and her husband, Edward Stash; his loving  granddaughters, Bella and Sophia Stash; his sister-in-law, Ann Granteed, and brother in-law, Dominick Granteed; his nephew, Mark Granteed, and nieces, Mary Reggie Delano and Judy Harvey.

The Reggie Family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Mercy Center, Dallas, for the outstanding care they provided Jasper during his time of need.

Joe, So sorry to hear of the passing of your father. My sincere condolences to you and your family. Dave from the Civil War Roundtable
He shared grace, hospitality, patience and wisdom with this stranger to his home so many years ago. He was a great example of what a father, husband and family man should be. We are better, I am better, for knowing him and we would all do well to follow his example. Blessing on all the Reggie family. John L McLaurin
